When applying for a driver’s license in Indiana, you must meet the following requirements:
• You must be at least 16 and a half years old.
• You must hold a Learner’s Permit for at least 180 days with no traffic convictions.
• You must complete at least 50 hours of supervised driving, with 10 hours at night.
If you are under 18 when you get an Indiana driver’s license, it is considered a probationary license.
What restrictions if any are there for new drivers?
All teen drivers under the age of 18 are prohibited from using any type of communications device while driving unless making an emergency 911 call. If you obtained a probationary driver’s license on or after July 1, 2009, you will not be qualified for a court diversion program.
